We aim to uncover new cellular and molecular mechanisms that prevent synaptic decay, a common feature to many neurodegenerative diseases

We combine Drosophila melanogaster and primary mammalian cell culture to identify new players in synaptic homeostasis that could prevent or even restore neuronal loss.
Our research employes pathological Drosophila models to obtain a deeper knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases, ageing and the innate immune response.
We aim that our discoveries will be further translated into new strategies to treat diseases like Parkinson (PD), Alzheimer (AD) or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
